White Knight Rust Guard Hammered Finish is suitable for all metal surfaces
How To Apply
1. PREPARATION
AEROSOL:
- Remove all rust and loose and flaking paint.
- Sand new metal, previously painted or glossy surfaces thoroughly.
- The surface must be clean, dry and free from dust, dirt, grease, oil, rust scale and other contaminants.
- Convert rusted steel and wrought iron surfaces with White Knight Rust Guard Rust Converter.
- Prime rusted steel and wrought iron with White Knight Rust Guard Metal Primer.
- Prime galvanised iron, ZINCALUME® and non-ferrous metals e.g. aluminium with White Knight Rust Guard True Bite or SLS Etch Primer.
- In highly corrosive conditions such as coastal areas prime steel and wrought iron with White Knight Rust Guard Metal Primer.
- Cover surrounding areas to protect from overspray.
BRUSH ON:
- Remove all rust and flaking paint.
- Sand new metal, previously painted or glossy surfaces thoroughly.
- Convert rusted surfaces with White Knight Rust Guard Rust Converter.
- The surface must be clean, dry and free from dust, dirt, grease, oil, rust scale and other contaminants.
- Prime galvanised iron, ZINCALUME® and non-ferrous metals e.g aluminium with White Knight Rust Guard True Bite or SLS Etch Primer.
- In severe conditions, or for added protection to steel and wrought iron, prime with White Knight Rust Guard Metal Primer.
2. APPLICATION
AEROSOL:
- Shake can vigorously for 1 minute before use and regularly during use.
- Adjust nozzle to desired spray pattern. Use the horizontal setting when spraying up and down and the vertical setting when spraying across.
- Hold the can upright approximately 15-20 cm from the surface.
- Press button firmly and spray with a smooth sweeping motion. Apply a pre-wetting mist coat followed by a full even coat, overlapping each spray pass. To prevent paint sagging, avoid spraying too close to the surface or spraying too heavily.
- Repeat if necessary.
Do not use when air or surface temperature is below 15°C or above 30°C
BRUSH ON:
- Stir thoroughly with a broad flat stirrer in a circular lifting motion for at least 5 minutes before use and continue to stir at regular intervals during application.
- Apply 2 coats by brush, roller or spray gun.
Do not use when air or surface temperature is below 10°C or above 30°C
3. COVERAGE
AEROSOL: Approximately 2m² per can.
BRUSH ON: Approximately 10m² per litre, depending on the nature of the surface.
4. DRYING
- AEROSOL: Touch dry in 30 minutes. Re-coat exactly after 1 hour or after 2 days. Do not re-coat between 1 hour and 48 hours after initial application.
- BRUSH ON: Touch dry in 4-6 hours. Re-coat after 24 hours.
- Drying will be slower in cold or humid conditions, in the absence of ventilation or where heavy film builds are applied.
5. CLEAN UP
AEROSOL: To prevent nozzle blocking, after use turn can upside down and press button until only gas escapes. Overspray can be removed while still wet with White Knight Rust Guard Solvent or mineral turps.
BRUSH ON: Clean brushes and equipment with White Knight Rust Guard Solvent or mineral turps immediately after use.
