Preparation

  • The surface must be clean, dry and free from grease, oil, dirt, rust scale and any other contaminants.
  • Sand previously painted and glossy surfaces with 600# wet and abrasive paper.
  • To achieve extra brightness, it is recommended that a white base coat be first applied.
  • Timber, masonry and bare ferrous metal e.g. steel and wrought iron, should be primed with White Knight Rust Guard All Purpose Primer before painting.
  • Galvanised iron and other non ferrous metal surfaces (e.g aluminium, copper, brass) should be primed with White Knight Rust Guard SLS Etch Primer.
  • Cover all necessary areas to protect from overspray.

Application

BEFORE SPRAYING

  1. Shake can vigorously for 1 minute to ensure colour uniformity. Shake can occasionally during use.
  2. Remove the cap carefully. Avoid using sharp objects that may puncture the can.
  3. Test spray on a small inconspicuous area to ensure surface compatibility and finish suitability.

SPRAYING

  1. Select the nozzle setting: The horizontal setting should be used when spraying up and down and the vertical setting should be used when spraying across. To change the nozzle setting, turn the red section on the nozzle.
  2. Hold the can upright approximately 25cm from the surface.
  3. Press button firmly and spray several light coats with a smooth sweeping motion, overlapping each spray pass. To prevent paint from sagging, avoid spraying too close to the surface or applying a heavy coat.
  4. Repeat if necessary.

Do not use at temperatures below 15°C or above 30°C or in excessive humidity.

Overcoating

White Knight Fluoro may be overcoated with an acrylic clear paint to extend the life of the painted surface, some loss in colour brightness may occur as a result.

Drying

Touch dry in 10 minutes. Re-coat after 1 hour. For exterior use, re-coating after 3 months may be necessary to maintain brightness.

Drying will be slower in cold or humid conditions, in the absence of ventilation or where heavy film builds are applied.

Clean Up

Overspray can be removed while still wet with mineral turps.

To clean the nozzle after use and prevent blocking turn the can upside down and press button until only gas escapes.

  • It is better to spray a few light coats than one heavy coat.
  • Practice makes perfect. Do a test piece first on cardboard to get the feeling.
  • Use masking tape or newspaper to prevent paint from going on areas you don't want it to.
  • Have lots of rags handy for any cleaning.
