How To Video

Rescue your old deck with White Knight Renew It!

  • Sand or scrape any loose or flaking stain or paint.
  • The surface area must be clean and free of dirt, grease, mildew and algae to ensure proper adhesion.

Cleaning with a pressure washer is not recommended. Pressure washing the wood surface can drive contaminants into the wood, eventually leading to coating failure. Sand any loose wood fibres.

Clean the surface with White Knight Renew It Deck Cleaner following label directions. Loose deck screws, raised nail heads or loose decking boards should be secured. Remove loose splinters and replace rotting or severely damaged boards.

Wood cracks and depressions deeper than 5mm should be filled with an exterior paintable sealant caulk.

Clean surface by applying White Knight Concrete Etcher following label directions or a pressure washer may be used.

Patch cracks and depressions larger than 5mm with a polymeric concrete patching compound following manufacturer's instructions. Do not use caulks or other non-concrete patching compounds.

Both wood and concrete surfaces must be thoroughly dry before application and there should be no threat of rain for 24 hours.

Please use caution when applying around aquatic habitats to avoid spills.

  1. Stir thoroughly with a broad flat stirrer in a circular lifting motion for 5 minutes before use and continue to stir at regular intervals during application.
  2. Apply 2 coats by brush or roller.

Before applying the first coat, dab a heavily loaded brush into any deep cracks, gaps, nail/screw holes and knots until filled. For cupped, cracked or warped boards, drive product into cracks by rolling across the narrow width as well as the length of the board.

Lightly brush any product that drips between the boards.

Cut in around the edges of the deck or concrete surface with a brush using a short dabbing stroke.

To apply the first coat, fully saturate the roller by rolling back and forth in the tray. Using light and even pressure, apply product to a few boards or half a square meter at a time, keeping a wet edge to avoid lap marks. Lightly back brush after rolling if you desire a smoother appearance.

To apply the second coat, cut in around the edges of the entire surface again and roll out as for the first coat.

During painting keep brushes and rollers working freely by rinsing periodically in water. Protect paving and decks from spills. Avoid painting in direct sun or windy conditions. Dampen highly absorbent surfaces.

Approximately 6m² per litre. Coverage will be lower on rough or absorbent surfaces.

Allow 6 hours for the first coat to dry before applying the second coat. Allow longer in cool or humid conditions. Drying times will vary depending on weather and the condition of surface.

Allow the final coat to dry at least 12 hours before foot traffic and 48 hours before replacing furniture or heavy objects .If surface is not dry due to low temperature or high humidity, allow extended drying time before placing furniture or heavy objects on to the coated surface.

Full cure and maximum stain resistance may take 30 days.

Clean up

Scrape excess paint from equipment into a separate container. Clean brushes and equipment with water immediately after use.
